OziShield - Marine Shield Paint Protection
So - what can I do with this film on my vessel?
We can supply you with our special polyurethane film, known as
Paint Protection Film. The film is manufactured from
clear polyurethane and has an acrylic removable
adhesive. When properly installed, this film will help
stop damage to your paintwork from abrasions,
discolouring and stone chips when being trailered.
You must read this section.
(Once more but slowly: YOU - MUST - READ - THIS -
SECTION.)
Paint Protection Film is not entirely invisible,
but it is very, very clear and is usually not noticeable
from 2 metres away from the vessel. The clarity of the film
depends on a number of things, especially the quality of
the installation and the maintenance of the film as it
ages.
Paint Protection Film is not indestructible.
Its job is to protect your paintwork, but the film can
be damaged. Certain chemicals, bugs guts, tyre
shines, certain coloured waxes and polishes, oils,
textas, methylated spirits, eucalyptus oil, dyes and
many other things can damage or discolour the soft
surface of the film.
We strongly recommend
that you only use Plexus to clean, polish and seal the
film. Plexus is non-colouring and is easy to apply,
and relatively inexpensive. Paint Protection Film is
porous (meaning that it has millions of microscopic
holes in its structure) and these holes will collect and
retain chemicals and small particles of dirt. Once the
holes are filled with rubbish it is difficult to
completely remove them. Therefore you must plug these
holes with Plexus on a regular basis to help keep the
film from discolouring. Luckily for you, we sell Plexus,
although you can also purchase it from a number of
motorcycle shops and boat supply shops.
Does the film really work?
We've been in this business since 2003 and we've
installed over 1500 kits on cars, motorcycles, bicycles
and lots of stationary items. Many of our customers are
repeat customers; once they've discovered this product
and realise that it really does work, then they call us
to get their next car done. Our record at the moment is
8 cars for one customer (not including our fleet
customers).
Not convinced yet? Well don't take our word for it as
most manufacturers including Aston Martin, Audi, BMW,
Citroen, Ferrari, Ford, Holden, Lotus, Maserati,
Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Morgan, Nissan, Porsche,
Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo either
install this product at the factory or offer it to
customers as an accessory. So if these guys think that
it works, then what's stopping you (or more precisely,
what's stopping those stonechips)?
What's so special about polyurethane? Does it come
off if I want to remove it later? Will it damage my
paintwork? How do I look after it? Does it let the paint
fade evenly?
Questions, questions. Hopefully we can answer all of
your technical questions and more on our
FAQ page.
Believe it or not, this film will survive under
water and protect hulls, transom boards, cleat
areas, jetski keels and lots more.
We've had customers put it on their boats,
jetskis and kayaks. The film helps to keep the
fibreglass from chipping, cracking and discolouring.
Metal painted hulls get damaged during towing as
stones are thrown up from your SUV. So, protect just
the first few feet of the hull to avoid all of that
damage. |
